A weekend in the Armpit

Somehow the stars aligned properly and I managed to get a Friday to Sunday streak off while the weather cooperated at the same time. I thought of no better place to take advantage of such an event than a good ol' city called Windsor. I headed down late Thursday night and immediately the next morning some insane shredding ensued until sundown on Sunday. These type of weekends are few and far between but damn, when they happen, you know it's good.

These cats!

Crossed into Detroit for the day and met up
with none other than Mr. Bohl! He showed us
this wicked authentic Mexican joint too.

Ending a day in Detroit with some beans, rice
and flautas. Amazing!

Back to spot checking. Hill checking out a death
pit.

More spots...

Rigged something up...look at the smile on this
guy's face.

Another spot check...

If you've ever been to the Plantus' residence
you'll know this face as soon as you start driving
away.

Mikey ain't bad at art either!

Gotta love it!

Fun in the Sun? Not Likely.

My recently jobless self decided to start the weekend on Thursday by heading to London for a couple days and then Toronto for the two after. Unfortunately, my fair-skinned self couldn't avoid getting sun stroke for the life of me. This, of course, caused me to lay in the back seat of my car all of Saturday while "we" were downtown Toronto "skating" and telling the homies only to beckon me if a photo needs to be shot. How fucking lousy does that sound? Ah well, I guess it has to be done once in a while.

Byron on the hubba? No shit. Front 5050.

Justin and Chris came up to visit for the weekend,
too bad I couldn't skate for shit. As for the trick?
Yeah, switch pop up to this thing is no joke.
Switch front 50.

Isaac, back tail through the skinny.

Starting next Sunday my Bones will be a rattlin' for 10 days....

Pedro is a Saint

Since Pedro is such a nice guy he decided to lend me his DSLR for the rest of my trip, I'm stoked! I'm sure everyone that reads this was stressing when they heard they wouldn't be seeing anymore juicy content but fret-no-more. Take a look below for some flicks!

The old men are vicious out here.

Will loves Gossip Girl.

JB! By the time you read this he will
already be back in Michigan.

Spectating.

land this but it's still nice lookin'.

Diiiiiirrrtyyy D!

This past weekend I took a trip down to Michigan to hang out and skate with some homies that I met up with last summer. Friday night Justin and I just took a cruise around downtown Detroit for spot ideas and to get a look at all the freakin' weirdos down there. It all came back to me how much I really loved the place!

Saturday was a bit of a change from just cruising around. Out at noon and in by 2am, it was a shred mission! For the most part, we stuck to downtown Detroit with Dave, Adam, Tony, Daryl and Ben. The day went pretty smooth seeing as there wasn't one security guard interaction the entire day, it was a nice change.

On Sunday we kept it a bit more mellow with pretty much the same crew. This time we stuck to the 'burbs and actually had more problems with superhero-citizens and police than we did downtown. Bummer. Regardless, we kept on with our day heading from spot to spot. Soon enough the day came to an end and I had to head back to good 'ol Canada. It seems like there's never enough time to stay, skate and hangout with all the Michigan dudes.

Adam, tre flip to the skinny.

Ben, ollie up backside flipper.

Adam with a pretty-lookin' front shove.

Dave, nose manny around.

HOT OFF THE PRESS! Justin with a casual
back tail.

"Look Ma, no hands!" Justin again with a switch
crook pop out.

Adam, backside flip at turbo speedz.

Chris came through with this gnarly back
50 and popped back into the bank.

Seems like the minute I get back from Michigan
I'm making more plans to get there again.

MI+CA do KW

This weekend good friends Justin Bohl from Michigan and Paul Kwon from California came up to Kitchener to hang out and skate. I was pretty stoked to host and show them around so we skated here for a day and then hit up Toronto. Lucky for them they got to see the type of interesting characters that the downtown core has to offer. We did the meet-and-greet deal with a bunch of dudes here and they even had the chance to skate the super-park known as the Kitchener Auditorium. Toronto was more of a day for spot checking and cruising around so we didn't get any flicks for Sunday but check out the goods below.

More of these two to come in the future! In the meantime
check out Paul's blog(at the right) for another account of the trip.

GAMS

I headed on down(over? up?) to London Friday night with plans to get some good skating in on Saturday. A few people had wanted to shoot some things and best of all, Justin and Mike were coming from Michigan to hang out for the weekend. I was pretty stoked on that fact alone since I hadn't seen Mike since the summer and Justin since Cali so the trip to London was worth it just because of that. Anyways, Saturday morning we all warmed up a Vic and met up with some Kitchener and London dudes. The crew was fairly large so we all split up, going our separate ways. The weather was super nice, like 25 degrees Celsius nice. Anyways, we got the flicks and that's all that matters. Big up to Mr. Cameron Black for the hospitality, I'll be back soon!

Colin, warm up front nose.

20 minutes (including warm
up) was all Mike needed to get
this back smithers.

15 minutes after the photo of the back smith, the clouds rolled up and it started raining super hard. Driving on the 401 at night in the pouring rain sucks. Until next time...

Cali Memories

I had about four rolls of 35mm film in my fridge that I had shot through my AE-1, yet to be developed. I finally got around to developing and scanning the negs and to my surprise I had some snap shots from my California in January on there. Check 'em out below.

This shutdown school
had some cool architecture and
the most buttery curved ledge
ever at it.

San Pedro park

San Pedro park. Seeing these groms learning
to skate at this park blew my mind. Now I know
where all those teen tranny killers come from
in Cali.

San Pedro park

Nevada mountains. I was fucking terrified seeing
snow from the plane window, after all, I was
leaving that white shit to soak in some warm
rays.

Dan Cohen nosegrinding while his homie
watches. I forget your name, sorry dude.

Scanning those on to my computer put a little smile on my face.

So Long California

My great expedition to California has finally come to an end. That being said, I am not stoked to be back home and surrounded by snow. All in all, the week and a bit that I stayed at Paul's with Justin was nothing but total awesome. You really can't ask for much more besides having perfect weather, waking up at 11am, cruising down the street to get coffee, checking out the shops and going skateboarding for the rest of the day. Everyone was really productive, skateboarding all day and playing Grand Theft Auto by night. Justin even had a messed up ankle and managed to get some photos - trooper. Everyone I met was really nice and extremely welcoming to me shoving a camera in their grills: Thanks guys.

In the end, what you really came for was the photos I've posted below so I won't hold you back any longer, enjoy, I know I did.

Justin Bohl skating after 4 months with a broken
foot...a miracle on wheels!

Justin Cefai, halfcab crooks revert. He was
just goofing around with this one.

Sesai Parra again. Hauling ass at a good

Hanging out at Justin Cefai's place on the last
night: Michigan dudes. Good times.

That's it, that's all. Thanks to everyone
for everything.
